Temporary impact to Locations and Collections

Hi All,

We've had to refactor a very large and key part of the platform due to growing pains so that we can improve performance, reduce complexity and reduce maintenance overheads.

While we work through this, there will be some negative impact to location and collection pages and associated lists. It is only temporary, but may persist for a few days while the changes propogate throughout the system.

Thanks for your patience everyone.

Cheers

Aaron.

Most of the work affecting collections is now complete (phew), but location pages are still affected and likely will be for a few more days.

Is this why all the entries for Little Taylor grassland have disappeared?

Yep exactly @galah681 - we are onto it as a priority, but VERY big job to re crunch everything.

Hi everyone. All maps have now been fully repopulated again with all their child sighting records.

Thanks for your patience on this one! It has been a whopper and we are glad to have this big restructure behind us :)

Is this still ongoing? When I go to a natureampr area page ie Albury/Wodonga, and then go to Add Sighting (from computer) it opens the all Australia map/page instead of that region. So I have to zoom in a mile each time to select where I was. thanks in advance. kylie

Hi @KylieWaldon - work on locations and collections is complete. This is an unrelated change. Unfortunately the old "Add Sightings" page had smoke coming out of it and couldn't keep up with demand, so we've had to bin it because it was taking 20 to 30 seconds to load and render the local regional boundary. We do plan to re-introduce the localised species selection as soon as we can, but we won't be able to go back to rendering the region boundaries on the Add Sighting page, it's just too slow and heavy on the server(s). You may be able to use the "Enter manually" tab however and enter in a starting suburb or address and it will make the map jump to that specific location to help save you time...

Thanks Aaron. I'm almost used to it now. I just head for Canberra and drop a little below it! Kylie :)
