yes, its true that Rough Saw Sedge usually refers to Gahnia aspera, however G. aspera doesn't occur in the ACT. The only Gahnia occurring in the ACT, according to ACT Plant Census (prepared by National Herbarium) is Gahnia subaequiglumis.

Sign at the carpark says this is rough saw-sedge, which is the common name for Gahnia aspera.

Certainly an ID challenge . . .

Unverified Rush, Sedge or Mat Rush

This was a hard one to photograph. Very vertical stems tightly bunched, flat leaves with vertical veining as seen in one of the photos. Unfortunately no flowers but I thought the form might be somewhat diagnostic

Thanks Mike and Jane - should be still showing as rare in the ACT, so perhaps a glitch in the system. Prior to Naturemapr it was known from one location in the ACT but is still fairly restricted - there is one butterfly species that only eats this particular sedge so good to try and protect some of teh ACT patches
