Perciformes means perch-like and world-wide this order contains 41 percent of the boney fish species in both fresh and saltwater. In the CNM, three families  of Perciformes are represented amongst native species.

Confirm Macquarie Perch , There is a remnant population in the Cotter . Once a dominant species in the Murrumbidgee & Burrinjuck but now rarely seen in those areas due mainly to increase water temp & pollution.
